EnquireBook a fitting

Before your fitting

Your wedding dress alterations timeline one agreed step at a time.

A wedding dress alterations timeline should be built around the gown, proposed work and dates you can attend. It is not a fixed number of weeks copied from another bride’s experience. Share the wedding and collection deadlines, then ask which stages need to be confirmed for your own dress.

An enquiry requests availability. The work, quote and appointment are confirmed separately.

At a glance

What to know before you enquire.

An enquiry, assessment, work stage and fit check are different events. The number of appointments and time between them depend on the dress. No standard lead time, deposit amount or automatic booking is stated on this page. Confirm the actual arrangements before relying on them.

01The starting point

The enquiry sets out the request.

Send the date you need the gown, your suburb and the fit concerns. Include whether the gown is already available and whether it has been altered before. A photo can help explain the request. A successful form status does not confirm an appointment, quote or completion date.

Discuss your alterations

02Fit & construction

The assessment looks at the dress on you.

At a confirmed fitting, bring the planned shoes, undergarments and separate pieces. Describe how the gown feels while you stand, sit and walk. Ask how the seams and detail work affect the options. The scope should identify which changes are agreed and which still need discussion.

03The details

Work between visits needs its own time.

Some changes may need checking before the next stage can be settled. Ask what happens between appointments and who needs to attend each check. Do not assume all work can happen during a fitting or that one visit will complete every request.

Confirm changes to the scope before extra work begins.

04A clear next step

Collection completes the agreed handover.

Ask how the final fit is reviewed and which items should be brought to collection. Confirm who is collecting the gown and what instructions are included for any bustle or separate piece. Cleaning, pressing, packing and storage are separate services unless clearly included in the scope.

Discuss your alterations

From the first pin

From enquiry to an agreed fitting plan.

Describe the outfit and the changes you want assessed. The appointment, scope and timing need separate agreement.

Request fitting availability
  1. Send dates and fit concerns

Include the wedding date, earliest collection deadline and when the gown will be available.

  2. Confirm the assessment

Agree the appointment location and items to bring. Discuss the proposed changes on the actual gown.

  3. Agree the work and checks

Confirm the scope, quote and any further fitting plan. Ask before changing shoes or adding another alteration.

  4. Review and collect

Check the agreed result and handover arrangements. Keep care or bustle instructions with the gown.

Plan with clarity

What affects the scope, quote and timing?

No price or turnaround is assumed from a photograph. Ask which work and arrangements apply to your own request.

Gown availability

The dress needs to be available for the relevant stage. Arrival delays and earlier alterations can affect the plan.

The agreed changes

The type and order of changes affect work between visits. There is no fixed fitting count for every gown.

Your own dates

Share travel and collection deadlines as well as the wedding date. Confirm actual appointments rather than plan around a generic lead time.

Before you visit

Prepare the details for your enquiry.

Use the list to explain the request and prepare for a separately confirmed appointment.

  • Gown and separate overskirt or accessories
  • Actual wedding shoes
  • Planned undergarments or shapewear
  • The wedding and travel dates
  • A list of fit concerns and other planned changes

A few things to know

A few questions before you enquire.

These answers explain the process and limits. Details for your own outfit must be confirmed after assessment.

How many wedding dress fittings do I need?

The gown, work and fit checks determine the plan. Ask about your own dress rather than assume a fixed number used for another bride.

Is a standard lead time promised here?

No. Availability and the time needed depend on the request. Send the dates early and wait for the actual appointment and work plan to be confirmed.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

No deposit amount or payment rule has been supplied for this site. Ask about the terms when a fitting or quote is discussed.

Can I change shoes after the hem is marked?

Tell the fitter before making that change. A different sole or heel can affect the agreed length and may need another assessment.

Does the form confirm the booking?

No. It sends an enquiry. The appointment, scope, price and timing are confirmed separately.

Where can I read more about fitting numbers?

The guide on how many wedding dress fittings you may need explains the factors to discuss without promising one standard package.
