EnquireBook a fitting

Bridal planning guide · Brisbane

How many wedding dress fittings do I need? Let the work shape the answer.

There is no fitting count that describes every gown. A simple hem, a bodice change and a vintage restyle can need different checks. Start by listing the work and the dates when you and the dress can attend. Then ask which visits your gown may need.

An enquiry requests availability. The work, quote and appointment are confirmed separately.

At a glance

The short answer.

Think in stages rather than a promised number: assess the gown, agree the changes, check relevant work and confirm collection. Some stages may be combined, while others may need another visit. The plan must be confirmed after the gown and proposed changes are considered.

01The starting point

The first assessment is not the whole process.

At the first confirmed assessment, the fitter looks at the dress on you and discusses the changes. Shoes and undergarments help show how it will sit on the day. Ask which details can be agreed then and which need a later check once another change has been made.

02Fit & construction

Several changes can affect one another.

A bodice or waist change can affect where the skirt sits. A strap change may affect the neckline. Ask which part needs to be settled before a final hem or other detail is agreed. This is why a wedding dress fitting timeline cannot be based on the number of changes alone.

03The details

Shoes and other outfit choices can change the plan.

If shoes, undergarments or a separate skirt change after a fitting, tell the fitter. Those items can affect the proposed length and fit. Do not assume a later visit will still check the same thing. Explain any expected change before the work is agreed.

04A clear next step

Travel and collection need their own questions.

Ask which checks need you present and whether a collection by another person is possible. A handover does not replace a fit check on the wearer. If you live elsewhere or have a short Brisbane visit, discuss those limits before arranging travel around a fitting count.

Before you visit

A practical checklist.

Keep the relevant outfit choices and questions together.

  • List the proposed changes
  • Bring the actual shoes and undergarments
  • Ask what happens between visits
  • Confirm which checks need you present
  • Share travel and collection deadlines

A few things to know

Questions about the guide.

These answers explain the process and limits. Details for your own outfit must be confirmed after assessment.

Is one appointment always enough for a hem?

No fixed count is promised. Layers, other fit changes and the planned checks affect what is needed for the actual gown.

Does a complex gown always need more visits?

Complexity is one factor, but the work and fitting sequence matter too. Ask for the plan that relates to your dress rather than assume a number.

Does collection count as a fitting?

Ask what is expected at collection and whether you should try the dress on. A handover and a fit check are not automatically the same event.

Can I reduce visits by sending measurements?

Measurements and photos can explain a request, but they do not replace every assessment of the gown on its wearer. Discuss your availability and the required checks.

Where can I request a fitting plan?

Use the enquiry form and explain the gown, changes and dates. The fitting dates are agreed after your enquiry is reviewed.
